    Imec Publications Repository Policy Information

    The policies contained in this document are broadly adapted from Jisc/Sherpa's repository policy templates.

    Metadata Policy

    Access rights and permissions for information describing items in the repository
    1. Anyone may access the metadata free of charge
    2. The metadata may be re-used in any medium without prior permission for not-for-profit purposes provided a link to the original metadata record are given
    3. The metadata must not be re-used in any medium for commercial purposes without formal permission

    Data Policy

    Access rights and (re-)use permissions for full-text and other full data items
    1. Access to some items is restricted
    2. Anyone may access full items free of charge
    3. Unless indicated otherwise, items are protected by copyright with all rights reserved.
    4. Where records identify the publisher as the copyright holder, users can verify any specific terms of use on the publisher's website.
    5. Some records indicate that the item is licensed under a Creative Commons or other licence that permits wider re-use. Please refer to the terms of the licence for specific details.

    Content Policy

    Types and versions of documents and datasets held
    1. Imec Publication Repository is an institutional repository that holds all types of items, such as journal articles and conference papers
    2. All items are individually tagged with their type and date

    Submission Policy

    Eligible depositors, quality control and copyright
    1. Items may only be deposited by accredited members of the organisation, or their delegated agents
    2. Authors or their delegates may only submit their own work for archiving, including works as co-author
    3. The validity and authenticity of the content of submissions is the sole responsibility of the depositor
    4. The administrator only vets items for the eligibility of authors/depositors, relevance to the scope of the repository, valid layout & format, the exclusion of spam and additional data quality requirements
    5. Items can be deposited at any time, but will not be made publicly visible until any funders' or publishers' embargo period, or the embargo period as foreseen in the Belgian Open Access law, has expired
    6. Any copyright violations are entirely the responsibility of the authors/depositors - imec will, however, assist authors/depositors in support of funder, publisher and internal open access policies.
    7. If the repository receives proof of copyright violation, relevant action will be taken
    8. The repository is not the publisher; it is merely the online archive

    Preservation Policy

    Long-term retention, migration, and withdrawal protocols.
    1. Items will be retained indefinitely.
    2. The repository will try to ensure continued readability and accessibility.
    3. The repository regularly backs up its files according to current best practice.

    Takedown Policy

    If you believe you have a legitimate reason to request the removal of an item in the imec publications repository, please send a request through our contact form with the following details:

    • your contact details;
    • sufficient information, including full URL, needed to identify the relevant item/s;
    • the nature of your complaint, and reason for filing it;
    • if your complaint or request relates to copyright or related rights, confirmation that you are the rights holder or affected subject, or an authorised representative of the rights holder or affected subject.

If the complaint is found to be legitimate, the material will be permanently removed from the repository.
